HISTORY

The first Belvoir School was built in the early 1920's. The building burned down in December 1930 while the school was having it's annual Christmas program. The debris was immediately cleared and a new school building was started in the spring of 1931.

The new school opened for classes in September 1931. The first graduating class of 1932 consisted of five students. Siblings Lucille Harris and Floyd Harris, Ella Lewis, Arlene Parker and Neva Talor. In those days, the schools were first grade through eleventh grade only, no twelfth grade.

The last surviving member of the 1932 graduating class was Lucille Harris, who passed away at more than 100 years of age just a couple of years ago. She had brothers and sisters, as well as other family members, who also graduated from Belvoir over the years.
